Metallographic examination of metal materials can be divided into two categories: macroscopic examination and microscopic examination. Macroscopic examination mainly refers to the examination of macrostructure、 which involves examining the surface or cross-section of steel with the naked eye or under a magnifying glass no greater than 10 times、 in order to determine the macrostructure defects of the material. Microscopic inspection mainly includes grain size inspection、 non-metallic inclusion inspection、 and microstructure inspection、 all of which are used to inspect the microstructure status and distribution of materials under an optical microscope. The two methods are indispensable and important methods for routine inspection to evaluate the quality of steel、 as well as important means for conducting research on new materials and processes
